Bible Baptist Church of Shiremanstown was started in May 1961, as the Shiremanstown Bible Fellowship under the leadership of Rev. Cass F. Santos, Jr. as a missionary outreach of Grace Baptist Church of Carlisle. There were sixty-seven people at the first service, which was held in the Shiremanstown Borough Hall. In the fall of 1961, the congregation legally incorporated as the Bible Baptist Church of Shiremanstown and had fifteen charter members.
The church continued to meet in the Borough Hall as it slowly grew. Four years later, three acres of land were made available, and in May 1966, the congregation of about 150 people was able to move into the new sanctuary, now named Judson Hall, on the corner of Rupp Avenue and Main Street. God's blessing was upon the ministry and the Lord gave the increase as the church continued to grow.
In 1970, Rev. Charles Cole, Jr. joined the staff as Minister of Youth. At approximately the same time, the congregation was able to purchase an additional tract of nine acres, bringing the total church property to twelve acres. The Lord richly blessed the church and there was a need for building expansion. After much prayer and deliberation, the church broke ground in September 1971, for a new 1,600 seat auditorium. This new facility was named Carey Hall and dedicated in April 1973.
In October 1973, Rev. A. Merrill Dence joined the pastoral staff as Minister of Music. Under his direction, the church began a community outreach ministry in the form of the Living Christmas Tree Musicals which were produced annually for many years. Later that same year, in the fall of 1973, the congregation sensed the need for Christian education on the West Shore and approved the start of a Christian school. During this time, the third building, Spurgeon Hall, was built to accommodate the growing church and school.
After 28 years of ministry, Pastor Santos retired in December 1989. An interlude of two years passed until a new pastor was called. Finally in October of 1991, Dr. Terry E. Zebulske was installed as pastor of the church. Dr. Zebulske came to Bible Baptist Church from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA, where he was a professor of pastoral theology. Under his leadership, the church continued to expand in many areas including a vigorous youth program, most notably led by Youth Pastor Dave Whiting, and a much enlarged music ministry when Bill Jackson became the Pastor of Music and Christian Education. Dr. Zebulske's ministry continued for the next fourteen years until October 2003.
Following this time, the church was in a transition period during which Dr. Don McCall, from Baptist Bible College, served as the Pastoral Team Leader. After an extensive search, the Pastoral Search Committee recommended that the church call Rev. Brian Eichelberger to become the Pastoral Team Leader. In October 2004, this call was officially extended by vote of the church. Since Pastor Brian was still serving in the Czech Republic at the time of this call, Dr. McCall continued his interim ministry until Pastor Brian's missionary assignment was completed. In June 2005, Dr. McCall's interim ministry was concluded and Rev. Brian Eichelberger was installed as pastor of Bible Baptist Church.
